The project supports practitioners to effectively develop young children’s confidence and independence as talkers, readers and learners and develops their professional knowledge and expertise. The project is for practitioners in Children’s Centres and other Early Years settings, including the private and voluntary sectors.
The project is helps practitioners to:
• Develop play-based learning to promote children’s talk and thinking
• Develop a deeper knowledge and understanding of early literacy development in multilingual settings
• Review current provision and develop an effective talk-rich learning environment
• Explore the role of parents as partners in their children’s early learning and work practically with parents
• Share and develop practice across a range of settings to gain a wider view.
The project includes a set of 10 core books to use within individual settings, a set of key resources to support play-based learning and practical website resources.
